2010 William Hessian is known as The Canvas Killer and as Mr. Art Hunt. William is a visual artist, performance artist, writer, illustrator and teacher. William currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. William has started his career in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has travelled the United States performing art hunts and art shows. William has created Canvas Kill Live, which is an art creating and art killing performance; involving destroying art with blenders, swords, and knives. William also performs live interactive art battles with artist Matt Semke, called Billy Vs Matt. Past 'Billy vs Matt' battles have included art wars with ten foot paint brushes, Red Hot box battle, axe destructions and ink filled super soakers. William Hessian's works are collected around the world, and original work can be purchased at his online shop.
William believes that "art must create the future." Recent mixed media scultpures aim to invent future products. William Hessian's popular web comic is a collection of strips about his personal life as an artist. William has been interviewed about his artwork by numerous newspapers, blogs, radio stations, podcasts and televsion stations.
William Hessian's students know him as 'Mr. Billy'. Mr. Billy has taught art classes (everything from ceramics, printmaking, maze making, drawing, sock creatures, mural making, game design etc.) from kindergarten to adults in school systems, art centers, festivals, art camps, and in arts after school (or arts after work) programs. With over 1600 hours of experience, Mr. Billy creates projects that teach fundamentals of art with creative, entertaining and exciting projects. The goal in his art classes is to teach lessons that will become part of the students knowledge and skill base, not simply something he or she does once in class. William often tells his students, "there are no wrong answers in art," and therefore the results are limitless; while explaining the exact methods to complete a specific project. William has taught with Young Rembrandts, Youth Enrichment League, Jamestown Art Center, and the International Music Camp.
