The hunt is over! Thanks to everyone who participated this year. If you enjoyed the hunt please e-mail the parktacular and let them know you want another art hunt next year!
Enjoy the photos above of families on the hunt. It was also a pleasure to meet you all at the Parktacular festival, also stay tuned to your local Sun Sailor for an article about the hunt.
This was the second Parktacular Miniature artwork hunt by Minnesota artist William Hessian. 'Splash into the Summer' in St. Louis Park by searching the public parks for tiny brightly colored original artworks. The hunt is open to all. During the hunt this page featured visual clues to help you in the hunt for artwork.
Last years Parktacular Art Hunt was an incredible success. The Parktacular art hunt is the first of six hunts across the nation in William Hessian's Art as Treasure art tour 2008. The ten "Splash into Summer" hand drawn artworks measure one inch by one and a half inches in size.
If you are unfamiliar with William Hessian's miniature artwork hunts, ten hand drawn miniature are create (see images above) and hidden in the public parks. The public is then encouraged to scour the parks for these tiny treasures, and the winners will recieve prizes at the Parktacular ceremony, simply bring your found artwork and a prize will be awarded.
William is also hosting an BYOA (bring your own art) art tour kick-off party and art show on June 22nd, 2008 at Billy and the Old Man Design. The kick off party will also be the last show at Billy and the Old Man gallery before it closes its doors in this location and will also be displaying the 50 miniature artworks that will hidden in parks across the country. Check back often for more information.
Parktacular is helping raise awareness of the free hunt, but word of mouth is extremely important so please pass on the dates and times to friends, families, children, schools, teachers, park enthusiasts and anyone else that might be interested in the hunt.
